2016-17 Strategic Action Plan
Georgetown Main Street Program develops and enhances a vibrant, historic, economic center that is attractive, creative and evolving.
Georgetown Main Street Program is a preservation-driven, economic development organization. We utilize diverse community partners to create a destination downtown for everyone.
The 2016-17 Georgetown Main Street Program Strategic Action Plan has three strategies:
Strategy 1 is to attract and retain a healthy business mix. This is accomplished by involving the downtown businesses in the special events that promote traffic to the square. The vacant store fronts have uniform signage to entice new businesses. Quarterly Breakfast Bites trainings are held on a variety of subjects to help benefit the downtown merchants.
Strategy 2 is to raise awareness and funding for Georgetown Main Street Program projects. The Main Street Program provides grants to downtown businesses and building owners to help offset the costs of improvements to storefronts and signage. Funds for these grants and other projects are raised through efforts like the Georgetown Swirl, Table on Main and the annual limited edition Christmas ornament series.
Strategy 3 is to promote downtown’s unique image as a vibrant, diverse and inclusive destination. The Main Street Program constantly works towards the beautification of downtown. These efforts are in conjunction with other downtown organizations such as the Williamson Museum, Downtown Georgetown Association, Georgetown Heritage Society, Palace Theater, CVB and Georgetown Art Works.
